Little Company of Mary Completes Move to New West Pavilion

Little Company of Mary’s (LCM) West Pavilion Patient Tower, the biggest construction project in the hospital’s 82-year history, is now open – and caring for patients. The replacement patient tower located on LCM’s main campus at 2800 W. 95th St. in Evergreen Park welcomed its first patient shortly after 9 a.m. today.

Throughout the day, LCM staff facilitated the smooth transition of 75 patients to the 118-private room and bath, 300,000-square-foot building.

“We are happy to report that this move, which has been almost a year in the making, was successful and orderly thanks to our hardworking hospital staff and great patients,” said LCM President and CEO Dennis Reilly. “Our new West Pavilion will allow LCM to build upon our legacy of providing high-quality patient-centered care to our community.”

Patients were moved one by one starting with the Mother and Baby Unit, where new mothers traveled with their babies in their arms with family members joining them shortly after settling into their new rooms. Simultaneously, patients also were moved to each of the four Medical / Surgical units. The move was completed in five hours with the final patient moving in about 2 p.m.

Known far and wide as “The Baby Hospital,” LCM is the birthplace of more than 200,000 babies – exceeding all other hospitals in the Southwest Chicago area.

The state-of-the-art Family Birth Center is equipped for specials births, including multiple births. The rooms are family-focused with daybeds and other amenities to allow families to easily and comfortably stay together following a birth.

A healing garden tops the Women’s Center for Life and Health providing new parents and their families a serene and tranquil respite.

The move also marked the opening of the new LCM Comprehensive Women's Center for Life and Health, which will continue to address women’s health and wellness and provide forward-thinking, gender-sensitive health care for women of all ages.

A first-of-its kind for the area, the Women's Center also is home to LCM’s Comprehensive Breast Health Center, accredited by the NAPBC (National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers), which offers a full range of diagnostic care specialists, surgeons and radiation oncologists.

This NAPBC accreditation is only given to a select few centers across the country that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care. The Center also offers an array of integrative therapy services, such as acupuncture, massage therapy and post-treatment esthetic care.

Now that patients are settled into their new rooms, LCM’s physicians, nurses and staff will continue to provide nationally recognized, high-quality health care service to Chicago’s southwest community. The new West Pavilion will allow the hospital to continue with their mission to care and provide the latest technology to heal.
