The Cancer Center introduces a Caregiver's Support Group
We know that cancer is a diagnosis that affects the whole family. Navigating through the cancer journey is often stressful, not only for the patient, but for caregivers, spouses, and other family members as well. Having a supportive environment where loved ones can express their feelings and concerns can be tremendously beneficial.
This is why we are so pleased to announce that starting in November, The Integrative Therapy program will be adding a Caregiver Support Group to the list of services we offer. The group will be held the first Thursday of each month from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The group is open to anyone who has a loved one with cancer. The group discussions will include topics such as reducing caregiver stress and tips for managing your own feelings about how the cancer is impacting your life.
The group will be facilitated by Kelly Walsh, M.S., L.C.P.C., and Margaret McGann, M.S., L.P.C. Kelly is the Integrative Therapy Coordinator for the Cancer Center and Kelly has more than 13 years experience as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Margaret has a Masters Degree in counseling and is a licensed professional counselor with experience in facilitating groups.
If you have any questions about the group and are interested in attending please contact Kelly Walsh at 708.229.6015.
