Fibromyalgia is a disorder causing widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by sleep, memory, fatigue, and mood swings. Fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals. Fibromyalgia is more common in woman then men.

Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event. Fibromyalgia tends to run in families, genetic mutations can occur that may make you more susceptible to developing the disorder.

Common symptoms include:

· abdominal pain
· anxiety and depression
· chronic headaches
· difficulty maintaining sleep or light sleep
· dryness in mouth, nose, and eyes
· fatigue upon arising
· hypersensitivity to cold and/or heat
· inability to concentrate (called "fibro fog")
· incontinence
· irritable bowel syndrome
