Nearly 200 Women Attended Little Company of Mary’s Fifth Annual Girls’ Night Out Event

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — October 1, 2012 Nearly 200 sisters, mothers, wives and BFFs gathered at the Oak Lawn Hilton for the Fifth Annual Girls Night Out event on September 26. It was a night for women to treat themselves to good wine, dinning and share stories with each other. “Women are the cornerstone of families and communities,” said Eileen McNichols, RN, MSN, manager of Women’s Wellness Consultants at LCMH. “The Girls Night Out event is about giving women permission to make themselves ‘number one’ on the list and focus on their own needs.”

Dr. Nancy Taft, a fellowship trained breast surgeon and medical director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at LCMH gave the keynote presentation. Dr. Taft understands that women have unique and variable health needs throughout the different stages of life. In her presentation, "Stay Abreast of the Best,” Dr. Taft provided the most up-to-date life saving information about breast health screening, prevention and treatment.

After the informative presentation, attendees discovered how to become “The Resilient Woman” as Joan Murphy, RN, Ph.D., director of Women’s Wellness Consultants at LCM, brought her wisdom, humor and secrets of resiliency. Joan Murphy used the terms “pioneers” and “comeback girls” to describe the passion and strength of women. Joan believes that all women have a true inner strength. “We need to take a step back and look at the fact that we are the heroes of our families,” said Murphy.

The Women’s Wellness Consultants at LCM were the recent recipients of the Sister Nancy Boyle Award for Excellence at Crystal Heart Ball this year.
