Meet Dr. Fiorucci:

Dr. Fiorucci is a general surgeon with special interests that include advanced laparoscopic procedures, anti-reflux and endocrine surgery and laparoscopic hernia repair. Dr. Fiorucci received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Rockford and completed his surgical residency at Wayne State University.

What is your philosophy of care?
It is my goal to take care of the whole patient. That includes physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I try to treat and talk to every patient as if they were one of my own family members.

Why did you want to become a doctor?
I wanted to be able to help people, and I realized that God had given me the abilities necessary to meet their needs as a physician. Medicine allows me to help the whole person, not just one part.

What are your sub-specialties and health interests in regard to your patients?
I try to help patients understand the importance of preventive care and healthy living. This includes colon and breast cancer screening. I also try to stress the importance of exercise as an overall aide to better living.

How do you maintain a healthy work/life balance?
As anyone in medicine will tell you, this is the hardest thing to do. Because of long and unpredictable hours, it is difficult to maintain any given schedule. I do try to schedule regular time off to spend with my family and even some alone time in order to maintain my own being. The time allows me to recharge myself mentally and emotionally. Attending church regularly and spending daily time in prayer helps maintain my spiritual well being.

What are your hobbies and interests outside the office?
I take as much time as possible to spend with my children and attend their many activities. I also enjoy playing golf and softball.
