Stroke Center

Certified Stroke Care

Little Company of Mary's Certified Acute Stroke Program was designed to ensure that Initial Acute Stroke care delivery is provided, based on evidence-based practice recommendations specific to the adult patient (18 years or older) population presenting with signs and symptoms of acute stroke / transient ischemic attack (TIA) / traumatic brain injury. Care will be delivered by a trained Emergency Team and/or Rapid Response Team. A custom interdisciplinary plan of care will be delivered throughout the patient's length of stay at the hospital.

Additionally, certified stroke centers make a commitment for ongoing community education focused on risk factors for stroke, risk factors for medication compliance, stroke prevention, and recognition of signs and symptoms of acute stroke.

Women's Choice Award

In 2015, Little Company of Mary Hospital’s (LCMH) Primary Stroke Center was named a recipient of the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care. Hospitals earning this award must be accredited by the Joint Commission and certified as a Primary Stroke Center. In addition, publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and patient recommendation ratings data were included, when assessing each hospital’s clinical performance.
