One of the most common treatments for prostate cancer is the removal of the prostate gland. Traditional removal requires an 8-10 inch incision. This open surgery commonly results in blood loss, a lengthy and uncomfortable recovery and risk of impotence or incontinence. If your doctor recommends surgery, you may be a candidate for a procedure called da Vinci Prostatectomy. It is a state-of-the-art surgical system that helps surgeons see vital anatomical structures more clearly through 5 small incisions. This makes the procedure less-invasive and more precise and offers less blood loss, less risk of infection, faster recovery, and less scarring.
