Our Cap and its Origin?

The cap was designed by a student nurse, Marilyn Therese (Jordan) Hickey class of 1954, and first was worn by the graduating class of 1953.  The four soft pleats in the crown are held together by a gold bar signifying unity. The pleats represent faith, hope, charity and prudence.  The two side wings mean that actions and thoughts of the wearer are directed toward God.  The two buttons in the back represent wisdom and fortitude.

Our Nurse's Pin and Its Meaning?

The pin is round, having a blue border with gold letters.  A raised sword-pierced heart and a lily are engraved on a gold center.  The border signifies the blue of Our Lady and the Sisters of Little Company of Mary.  The lily signifies purity and the sword represents the seven sorrows of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The pierced heart and the lily in the center is the Maternal Heart Insignia of the Little Company of Mary Sisters.  This signifies in a particular way, the Maternal Heart of Mary at the foot of the cross to whom each sister is dedicated.  The work of the order is constant intercession for souls in their last agony and caring for the sick and suffering.
