Children- no matter what gender, race, ethnic origins or ability- are precious gifts that remind us of the sacredness of life in a very-adult world. As adults, we have a responsibility to provide for them, nurture them, and protect them and love them unconditionally. Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers has been a support to parents awaiting the birth of a child (or children) for more than 83 years. Throughout those decades, we have been privileged to welcome more than 200,000 babies into the world.
Religious anthropologists, who study the impact of religion on humanity, have defined liminality as "standing at the threshold" of a new way of being, such as after completion of a ritual or sacramental moment. Life is somewhat different than before, but moving forward into something new, yet suprisingly familiar; grace has entered in. Indeed, our LCM family continues its own experience of liminality as we continue through the final twelve- to fourteen- month phase of our Campus Transformation Project. Our 1929 Tower Building, which has served us faithfully for the past 83 years, will be coming down to make way for the next chapter in our history. The next few months will be a time for sharing our many memories, creating new ones- and for moving forward with grace.
Many thanks to our supporters and donors to the LCMH Foundation; you are remembered daily in the prayers of our LCM Sisters for your unfailing generosity and support.
