One of the biggest choices you'll make when you're having a baby is where to bring your new life into the world. You'll want to select a hospital where you feel comfortable and can receive excellent care throughout each phase of your pregnancy. At Little Company, you'll find a compassionate environment focused on modern bonding and breastfeeding philosophies, with the latest medical technology to provide only the best for you and your baby.

Known as "the Baby Hospital," Little Company has welcomed more babies than any other hospital on the south side of Chicago and southwest suburbs. Scott and Viva Wayer of Oak Lawn welcomed baby Luke on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 6:13 a.m. Baby Luke has the distinguished honor of being the 200,000th baby born at Little Company. Baby Luke celebrated this milestone with his three siblings: Jocelyn, 9 years-old; Dalton, 5 years-old and Gianvev, 2 years-old. (SHOWN ABOVE) Little Companys skilled nurses have been rated as some of the highest quality in the area in a recent health care survey* and our mother-baby nurses have more than 600 years of combined experience.

Our five beautiful labor, delivery and recovery suites provide warm, homelike surroundings - to create a special, safe and soothing experience as you welcome your new child into your family. The rooms include a high-tech fetal monitoring system. Moms also can rest assured that they have access 24-hours a day to anesthesia, a pediatric hospitalist, neonatologist and neonatal intensive care unit. And, as a special touch, each newborn is serenaded with "Brahm's Lullaby" played throughout the Hospital just moments after birth.

Superior Care Right from the Start
With a referral from your physician, you can receive the services and benefits of Little Company's Maternal Fetal Medicine program - including access to the most sophisticated prenatal diagnostic services. Our ultrasound technology is conveniently located in the Hospital's Maternity Services Center, with flexible appointment hours and virtually no waiting time.

All of these services are provided under the direction of highly respected maternal fetal medicine specialists. Little Company technicians are both skilled and compassionate, with the ultimate goal of making each patient feel comfortable throughout her ultrasound experience. Reports are faxed to your physician the same day of the test.

Services performed in the Maternal Fetal Medicine program include:

  • Level I and II ultrasounds as well as 4-D ultrasounds
  • Fetal monitoring
  • Consultations for women with high-risk conditions, including lupus, high blood pressure and gestational diabetes
We are open during convenient morning and evening hours to better serve you. Ultrasound is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call (708) 229-5714 for information on how to schedule an appointment.

Our Family-centered Philosophy Ensures a Safe and Memorable Delivery
Experience has strengthened and shaped our birthing philosophy at Little Company, and we strive to provide each patient with the type of delivery she desires in a very secure and comforting environment. Your baby can be born in the comfort of one of our new labor, delivery and recovery suites, and anesthesia is available around the clock if you choose to have it. Following delivery, you'll have a private room for quiet recuperation and sharing the precious first moments with your newborn and family. We appreciate the important role of fathers, siblings and grandparents in the childbirth experience. And because we believe strongly in the mother/baby bond, we encourage each mother to spend the first hour with her baby before any tests are done, provided this is safe for the mother and baby's health. We support this bonding further by advocating you and your child room together throughout your entire stay - with the nurse caring for you and your baby.

Our Team is Prepared to Handle Critical Situations
Our talented team of doctors and nurses at Little Company is well-equipped to provide expert care for both routine and high-risk pregnancies. Infants who require special attention following birth are cared for with the latest technology in our intermediate care nursery. This Level II nursery with extended capabilities is a member of the premier University of Chicago Hospital Perinatal Network. More than five neonatal specialists are available 24 hours a day to give these infants the treatment and attention they deserve.
