The Illinois Primary Health Care Association identified the Halsted Medical Center area as a 'certified medically underserved' neighborhood. The Sisters of the Little Company of Mary surveyed the area and found that there were various health care options for expectant mothers and children, but very few options for seniors. The Sisters of the Little Company of Mary decided to do something about this unacceptable situation and thus began a five-year journey to build a medical facility to address the lack of access to primary care for seniors.
The Center is strategically located on the corner of Halsted Avenue and 95th Street for its convenient access to three different forms of public transportation. The Center features 12 exam rooms, one minor procedure room and a spacious lobby that will accommodate community education classes.
