Very
preliminary photos from the Project architect show the the new facility, called the West
Pavilion at this time, to be directly adjacent to the west side of the existing
Tower Building on the Francisco side of LCM's Evergreen Park campus at
95th and California.
In mid-2006, Little Company of Mary completed a
three-year strategic plan and a campus-wide facility plan. The plans
identified the opportunity to better serve women in the Southwest area through a
women's center, in addition to several other initiatives.
To address this need, LCM formed
a Women's Health Advisory Council.
LCM also gathered more than one dozen physicians who assist women with
their health care such as a breast surgeon, OB/GYNs, a psychiatrist, an
oncologist, a cardiologist and several others, to incorporate their feedback
into the women's center development. Simultaneously, hospital engineers,
architects and facility experts were reviewing and evaluating the best available
options for a new women's center.
During this research phase, LCM
critically thought about its overall facility needs and the best time horizon to
address those needs. After much analysis, discernment from the Sisters of
the Little Company of Mary and guidance from community members who voluntarily
serve on many LCM committees and boards,
a decision was made to adjust the timeline to address all of the facility needs
in a long-term Campus Transformation plan.
"God is calling us to
move forward at this time to make this strong investment in our
community.'
