Laboratory Assistant

Two years college with an emphasis in Chemistry or Biology or another related area. Responsible for conducting routine clinical laboratory tests and analysis on specimens according to established testing procedures in a laboratory section. Prepares specimens for tests according to test protocols, performs quality control, and calibrates laboratory equipment as necessary to assure accurate results. Assists with instrument and equipment quality control procedures.  Records and reports test results, enters test outcomes into the computer system and contacts medical/nursing personnel to report critical or "stat" results. Maintains inventory levels of laboratory supplies, prepares solutions and reagents, and transports specimens to the laboratory for testing.
